Red Ribbon Ride
Support the Massachusetts Red Ribbon Ride. It’s the Ride that Saves Lives!
AIDS Project Worcester, Inc. (APW) is one of 18 different AIDS service organizations that is collaborating in an event to fight HIV and AIDS in Massachusetts. From August 13th to August 15th, riders will pedal 225 miles through Central Massachusetts for what will be an unforgettable experience! This HIV/AIDS bike ride fundraising event will benefit APW and other collaborators which provide HIV and AIDS services and programs throughout the state. At AIDS Project Worcester, we plan to use the funds to strengthen the services we provide to our 1,300 clients throughout 68 different towns and cities of Central Massachusetts.
There are many reasons why our services and programs carry an important role amongst individuals and families throughout Central Mass:
- Central Mass has the second highest number of women living with HIV/AIDS in the state.
- The number of new reported HIV cases among Massachusetts youth and people over age 50 has increased significantly over the past four years.
- Out of the 13 counties in the state, Worcester County has the fourth highest number of persons living with HIV/AIDS.
- Approximately 25,000 people in Massachusetts are infected with HIV, and one out of three infected don’t even know it.
- HIV is still a terminal disease infecting and affecting millions of people everyday.
