World AIDS 2019

December 7, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

World AIDS Day, designated on December 1 every year since 1988, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection, and mourning those who have died of the disease. Government and health officials, non-governmental organizations and individuals around the world observe the day, often with education on AIDS prevention and control. World AIDS Day is one of the eight official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO). Since 1995, the President of the United States has made an official proclamation on World AIDS Day.

AIDS Project Worcester has celebrated World AIDS day for the past fifteen years with hosting a public is an event. It is our aim as a community focus agency to engage the public and those at risk to be educated and aware of HIV/AIDS impact on our lives. This year our event will be under the theme of Stop “Increasing Impact through Awareness, Opportunities and Partnerships”.  Even though the event has been traditional service as a Remembrance Day and celebration of the fight against HIV/AIDS. Over the years it has grown to be more and to evolve to a wider campaign.

AIDS Project Worcester in its work not only works with the HIV/AIDS community, but we are also actively involved in many other social causes. We work with and support Injection Drug User (IDU), to seek to stop the spread of both HIV and HEP C. Furthermore to encourage, assist and advocate for detox enrollments and train and provide NARCAN for overdose reversal.   The LGBTQIA community is also a part of our scope of work, from supporting gay men and men who have sex with other men (MSM) living with HIV/AIDS to facilitating Supporters of Worcester Area Gay and Lesbian Youth (SWAGLY) and teaming up with the Worcester Pride Committee.

We look forward to your support in making this event truly impactful on the Worcester community and continue to remain a beacon of information, remembrance and strength for years to come.
